Mushroom Boy Build 3.0 Dev Log


Deliverables:

  • Transformed the demo level into the final playable level (increased gameplay time)
  • improved the level design (better level matrics)
  • all Cutscenes have been added to the level
  • Iterations made based on feedback 
  • bug fixes

Wanted to deliver, but didn't:

•Cutscene: Flo collected
•10 minutes of gameplay (around 6 at the moment)
•Audio
• More Playtesting
•Secondary reward system to guide the player (dopamine coins)
•Desynced animations, animations not playing
•Ending of the game

Outstanding problems / bugs:

  • when going into Daniels gym level you are not able to go back to the playable level
  • sun climate UI counter only appears when died once

What we want to achieve next build:

•Make and implement Cutscene: Flo collected
•Expand on level design
        •Longer gameplay
        •More rewards throughout the level
        •Expand on variety of challenges
•Expand on audio design
        •Audio reinforces dynamics of weather & hazards and boons
•Narrative/Story
        •Mushi revitalizes “mother tree”, can’t see it back in gameplay. •End of game à Cutscene
